The Illusion of Inclusion

On this Fourth of July, let us take a moment to reflect, Not just on the past, but on the present we must inspect. For the experience of a slave, it's important to address, The realities that persist, causing distress. In Chicago, where crime rates soar, Carlisha Hood's story reveals even more. A system that perpetuates inequality, leaving many feeling trapped, stripped of their dignity. Fair housing, gentrification, and segregation's grip, Are chains that still bind, causing our hearts to skip. For how can we truly celebrate freedom's call, When injustice and division continue to enthrall? Let us not turn a blind eye to the plight, But join hands and stand together, shining a light. The Fourth of July must be a day for all to reclaim, To dismantle oppressive systems, erasing the pain. So as we commemorate this historic date, Let's work towards a future where equality is innate. Where every voice is heard, and every life is free, That's the true meaning of independence, for you and me. #SpokenWord #PoetryCorner #Poetryisnotdead #HousingEquality #RealEstateInvesting #FairHousingRights #fairhousingadvocate #TEDxSpeaker #TEDxCommunity #ideasworthspreading #powerofinclusion #tedxpoet
